Averaging method and coherence applied to Rabi oscillations in a two-level system

We study Rabi oscillations in a two-level system within the semiclassical approximation as an archetype test field of Averaging Method (AM). The population transfer between two levels is approached first and second order AM. systematically compare AM predictions with rotating wave (RWA) complete numerical solution utilizing standard algorithms (NRWA). both resonance (Δ = 0) out-of-resonance () cases, where Δ ω − Ω, ℏΩ E2 E1 energetic separation, while (cyclic) frequency electromagnetic field. introduce three types dimensionless factors , i.e., ΩR/Δ, ΩR/Σ, ΩR/ω, ΩR Σ + Ω explore range results are equivalent to NRWA. Finally, by allowing for phase difference initial electron functions, we prospects coherence can offer. illustrate that even equal probabilities at levels, but difference, strong be generated manipulated.
